Been a couple weeks, but hey, everybody! Happy March! Last time I was round these parts, we left off here:

in the Battle Dome Thing, shortly after beating Kiawe and acquiring a Cool New Charizard. Today’s task is to advance through the next route and catch even more new Pokemon. My team and the matter of who even belongs on it has been in a bit of turmoil lately. Man, I don’t even know either.

Aw heck, I didn’t think to screenshot it, but someone fiiiiinally acknowledged how similar the Z-Ring and the Mega-Ring were….except powering up moves is apparently stronger than giving whole new evolutions to Pokemon? Why not! Also, Poké Pelagos?

So this is interesting….the Aether fellows just seem to want some more data on Stufful; they’ll even pay me for it. And those guys in the corner – they just want to heal that Slowpoke, and they even called Team Skull out as thugs. So…are they not evil, despite this eerily sanitary white facility? Why were they after Lillie – did she take Nebby from them? Hmmmmm.

Better go off and do some exploring, then.

Aha, so Poke Beans finally have a use!! And look, my sad neglected PC Pokemon have a place to wander in – cool!!

This seems like more of an addictive spare-time thing, so I’m moving on. I poked around in it for a while and got a bunch of beans and developed Isle Aplenny, so I can grow berries (!), but it doesn’t look like this will impact the liveblog too much! Onwards!

(I will indeed go to Pokemon Refresh and feed Branch two Rainbow Beans and COMPLETELY MAX OUT HIS AFFECTION HOLY CRUD though, thank you.)

And, uhhh – this Pokemon started calling for help, and then they were attacking each other?? I think Tulip’s Pluck was supereffective on it, too – so, judging by this lovely pink coloration and the move Brutal Swing, I’m gonna guess that we have ourselves the first fighting/fairy type!

…no, it’s just Normal/Fighting. STILL COOL.

I was gonna name it Steven because it was pink and sweet, but I’m naming it Gaston instead I guess, why not

I took Gaston into Pokemon Refresh to see if its mannerisms were – quirky,  but no, it seems harmless. Even after I poked it repeatedly! For, um, for science.

Salandit, Trumbeak, Yungoos, and Stufful….I feel like this is the most Pokemon I’m gonna get out of this route, so I’d best move on to Lush Jungle.

Ugh…this Trainer on the way had a Shieldon that knew Iron Defense and Taunt. The only way to take it down was to brute-force it, which is a HUGE problem since I still only have physical attacking moves. This is why I need to get a Special attacker asap. At least there’s another Pokemon Center right after this.

Okay, continuing towards Lush Jungle! NPCs are starting to namedrop new Pokemon – I’ve heard Comfey and Wimpod. And there’s this rocky area where a little gray Pokemon escaped into a cave before I could get it…I want

Okayyy….looks like it runs every time I get near it, so I’m gonna have to go the long way around this little pool of water every time. I might actually want to break the Repels out for this.

I DID IT! It’s a Wimpod and it’s really ugly!

With that out of the way, I am slowly inching closer and closer to Mallow’s actual trial!! I’LL GET THERE!! THERE’S JUST SO MANY POKEMON!!!!

Oh, this is interesting! I’ve been catching every Zygarde bit I could find, and I guess I hit a quota.

!!!!! OKAY THIS IS INTERESTING. First of all, Ula’ula Island is finally namedropped outside of the Pokedex! And they have an Aether Base there, which sounds pretty ominous, actually…And!!! What does Sina have to do with the Aether Foundation? Is this Dexio&Sina backstory? Are we gonna get, like, this big Aether + Professors’ Assistants conspiracy?

After exploring the heck out of this place (which connects straight to Brooklet Hill!), I went back to the start, where an Ace Trainer said she’d battle me after all the other Trainers were out of the way, and:

Her Fearow knows a Z-Move, Supersonic Skystrike, and it’s just this huge and kind of terrifying plummet from above

But Silkie survived!!!!

So the trial is collecting ingredients for her…this reminds me of Hotel Richissme in Pokemon XY, where they had that sidequest that made you memorize a list of ingredients to give to some customers who ordered room service. I was usually too stubborn to write them down, so I had to learn the memorization of random berries and Pokemon items real fast. I could get $150,000 dollars PER DAY from that place after a while, though, so it was definitely worth it…

First ingredient found: Revival Herb: Then a Fomantis attacked me.

OH! Found the Moss Rock! Maybe I should’ve brought Tom the Eevee along, just to have an emergency Leafeon…nahhh. I’d probably get Umbreon this time around, if anything.

Gonna be honest, though – even taking out the GRASS! aspect, I really like this challenge. Digging around for items means I’ve already gotten a ton of free stuff!

Second ingredient found: Miracle Seed! Had to call Tauros and crush some rocks for that one.

Third ingredient found: Tiny Mushroom, a –

Sigh…anyways, I found the last ingredient! Mago Berry! We good, Mallow?

Ooh, I’m a little nervous as to what the trial is gonna be…here’s hoping it’s the evolution to Fomantis?!

Oh! Type confirmation – Olivia uses Rock-types. Hmm. Tulip and Branch are good, Dug’s neutral, Silkie isn’t the best (though she pulled her weight this time around)…man, I REALLY WANT some actual Water-type moves already. Water Pulse TM where.

To meet up with her, I’m gonna have to find the Dimensional Research Lab on Route 6. My Pokemon are not healed up, though, so run run run run run run run

My team is safe and sound, so this is where I’m gonna leave off!

Pokemon has become emotionally exhausting and difficult, I type with the cheery Pokemon Center music blaring in the background. Forty-one hours and fifty-seven minutes have been put into this game. There is no turning back now.
